The 2012 BMW 6 Series Will Offer All Wheel Drive and All LED Lights

Building on 26 years of tradition, the brand new 6 series looks sleeker and meaner although the 6 series is bigger in length, width and track. The 6 series even shares some proportions with the classic 8 series, which the resemblance can best be seen in the coupe.

There is a lot of stuff going on under its new design. With two different bodies in white underpin the coupe and convertible, which would explain why the convertible is the first to be produced. Both cars have been optimized to their form. Both vehicles share the same 50 percent front/rear weight distribution. The convertible will weigh about 300 lbs more than the coupe though.

The couple will begin production in July with sales after that. BMW will introduce their first all LED headlight system which will be available on the coupe and convertible. The convertibles build before then will not offer this upgrade.

Starting in September all wheel drive will be available for both the coupe and convertible. Manual transmission for the 6 series will only be available in North America. This will be released in the summer as well.
